This study addresses the phenomenon of divorce and its impact on the security of the family and society, and on the Five Universal Principles (Al-Kuliyyat al-Khams) which Islamic Sharia is dedicated to preserving and protecting. It identifies the most significant causes for the prevalence of divorce and its consequent negative impacts. The study employed a descriptive-analytical methodology by discussing divorce, outlining its causes and effects, and subsequently analyzing these impacts to demonstrate the extent of their effect on the family, society, and the Five Universal Principles, while also seeking solutions to curb the spread of the divorce phenomenon. The findings revealed the significant impact of divorce on family and societal security and the Five Universal Principles. Divorce results in numerous adverse effects, leading to the disintegration of familial bonds, causing societal imbalance and undermining its security. It also adversely affects the Five Universal Principles: Religion (al-Dīn), Life (al-Nafs), Intellect (al-‘Aql), Lineage (al-Nasl), and Property (al-Māl). The study recommended the necessity of promoting societal awareness through mass media, social media, and various educational and cultural institutions. It further recommended conducting pre-marital counseling and preparedness programs for couples intending to marry.
