Grammatical Preferences in Tafsir Ameer Hamza: An Analytical Study Based on Surah Al-Baqarah

Abstract

This research examines the role of Arabic grammar in Shaykh Amir Hamza’s interpretation of Surah al-Baqarah and investigates how grammatical analysis contributes to a more accurate understanding of Qur'anic meanings. Using a descriptive and analytical research method, the study evaluates selected grammatical discussions found in the tafsir. Particular attention is given to the impact of syntactic and morphological analysis on the interpretation of Qur'anic verses. The research also compares the author's grammatical views with those of well-known classical Arabic grammarians in order to identify similarities, differences, and distinctive features of his interpretive approach.

The study shows that grammatical analysis is an essential tool for explaining the meanings of the Qur'an and appreciating its linguistic precision and rhetorical beauty. A close examination of grammatical structures reveals subtle shades of meaning that may not be immediately apparent from a literal reading of the text. The findings further indicate that Shaykh Amir Hamza effectively combines the established principles of classical Arabic grammar with practical Qur'anic exegesis, resulting in interpretations that are both linguistically grounded and contextually meaningful. His contribution offers a valuable perspective for researchers interested in Qur'anic interpretation and the application of Arabic grammar in contemporary Islamic scholarship
