Marriage is a sacred and essential institution in human life that fulfills emotional, social and natural needs. In the modern era, love marriage has become a widely discussed phenomenon. From an Islamic (Shar‘i) perspective, marriage is based on mutual consent, affection and compatibility between partners. The Qur’an and Hadith clearly reject forced marriage and grant both men and women the right to choose their spouses, while also emphasizing the value of parental guidance. Although jurists differ regarding the role of a guardian (wali) there is general agreement that valid marriage depends on mutual consent and understanding. Socially and ethically, love marriage can promote trust, emotional harmony, and marital stability. It strengthens understanding, respect, and responsibility between spouses, contributing to a peaceful family life. However it is important that such marriages remain within the boundaries of Islamic principles and family values to ensure a balance between personal choice and social order.
