Abstract

This study, entitled “Islamic Solutions to Contemporary Medical Issues in Light of the Arabic Commentaries of Kitāb al-Ṭibb (Sunan Abī Dāwūd): An Analytical Study”, examines Prophetic medical traditions and their interpretation in four major classical Arabic commentaries. It highlights how these works contextualize guidance on health within Islamic law and provide solutions to modern medical challenges such as organ transplantation, blood transfusion, vaccination, surgery, and epidemic control. The research affirms that medical treatment is not only permissible but obligatory when preserving life, while ruqyah is upheld as spiritually and psychologically beneficial. It emphasizes precedents for quarantine in Prophetic medicine and the rejection of superstitious practices. Central to these commentaries is the insistence on lawful remedies, with exceptions allowed in dire necessity, reflecting the timeless ethical framework of Islamic medical practice.
