Altaf Hussain Hali – a renowned writer, critic, and poet of sub-continent – has been known as the renovator of modern style in Urdu Literature. He composed his epic poem, the “Musaddas e-Madd o-Jazr e-Islam” (An elegiac poem on the Ebb and Tide of Islam), at the request of Syed Ahmad Khan, under the pseudonym of Hali, which got fame by the name of “Mussadas e-Hali”.
Hali’s poetry has great impact of Holy Quran and sayings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in its composition, especially his longest and famous poem “Musaddas” shows that Hali has given extracts from the Holy Quran, translation of Quranic verses and Ahadiths and their interpretations in it. His Musaddas contains many moral aspects too. He draws Islamic beliefs, worships, personalities, and places through a scenic picture of Islamic History.
Here, only the influence of Holy Quran on the” Musaddas e Hali” is analyzed. Furthermore, light has been thrown on the poet’s personality, his views, and characteristics of his Musaddas.
