A Research Study of the Meanings and Embodiments of the Word Taghut in The Light of Islamic Exegetical Literature

Abstract

In the Qur'an and Sunnah, the word Taghut طاغوت)) has been used in different meanings and for different purposes and the Religious Scholars have described its different interpretations.  In this paper, a Research Study of the meanings, Interpretations and Embodiments of the word Taghut طاغوت)) has been done. This is basically a qualitative and Pure Research which is described in a narrative style. What is meant by Taghut طاغوت)) in the Qur'an and Sunnah has been examined in the light of the statements of commentators. So, it is found that different things are meant by Taghut طاغوت)), such as Satan, Soothsayer, Magician, Idols and the Person who makes decisions on laws other than Divine Laws, etc. This research will benefit the scholars of Islamic Studies and the General Public as well, and the meanings of this word will be understood in depth.
