The image of the female character through the novel “Az-Zinjiyya” by Aisha Bennour, the Algerian

Abstract

Women are one of the characters that reflect the image of society. If we want to know the extent of the society's elevation or decline in its values, it can be determined by the status of the woman in the society. This study aims to highlight the character of women, which is affected by psychological, spatial and temporal factors. To diagnose women's suffering and struggle, the novel "Az Zinjiyya" by the writer Aisha Binour was chosen to be an exciting field that diagnoses this suffering and struggle, and presents an image of women who go through many hardships and fall into the mire of suffering and struggle. This novel attracts the reader's attention from the first moment of reading the title, a title that carries a history of pain, struggle and suffering. A title that reflects a bitter reality of slavery; a painful enslavement of women by their unjust society that looks at them with contempt. This Novel is the latest novel by the writer Aisha Binour, as this book was published in 2020. This novel (Az Zinjiyya), consist  of 192 pages of a beautiful publication in a modern technical form. We must not forget that the gender of the novelist has a great impact on shaping the character of the woman, so how about if she is a woman? She writes from the standpoint of self-realization and justice for her female gender; and the gender of the writer has its own way of portraying women within the novel, and its relationship to society and its cultural, social, political and economic system, which in turn is reflected in the image of women within the novel and their position in society.
