The impact of Quranic inspiration on contemporary Jordanian women's poetry topics Descriptive and analytical study

Abstract

This article is concerned with studying the impact of Quranic inspiration on the purposes of contemporary Jordanian women's poetry through the works of five contemporary Jordanian poets. We look at how the Quranic inspiration featured as a prominent phenomenon in their poetry, through the study of ancient poetic purposes such as praise, satire, lamentation, and Islamic topics such as monologues, mysticism etc, along with contemporary topics such as politics. Thus, we found out that the Holy Qur'an was present in all those diverse purposes where the poets were able to employ it in a way that served their themes, enabling them to describe their feelings in a way that had a great impact on the recipient.

Through this article, I tried to answer two questions: What are the poetic purposes in contemporary women's poetry? What is the impact of Qur'anic inspiration on the purposes of contemporary Jordanian women's poetry?

I chose this topic because I found a strong relationship between the poetic purpose, the poet's orientations and ideas, and my desire to reveal the impact of Qur'anic inspiration on the poetic purposes of female poets. In this article, I have relied on the descriptive approach.
