Introduction to Imam Al-Kiya al-Harasi (504 AH) and His Tafsir 'Ahkam al-Quran': A Research Study
Abstract
The Holy Quran is a profound repository of wisdom and infinite knowledge, serving as an eternal source of guidance for humanity until the Day of Judgment. Within its verses, Allah Almighty has meticulously outlined the comprehensive laws of Shariah, guiding individuals toward true success and salvation in both this world and the Hereafter.
Among the Quran's vast array of subjects, one of the most significant is its legal injunctions, dispersed throughout the sacred text and known as 'Ayat al-Ahkam' (verses of rulings). Over the centuries, scholars from various eras and schools of Islamic jurisprudence have devoted themselves to interpreting these Ayat al-Ahkam, each contributing to the rich tradition of elucidating the Quranic rulings within the framework of their respective madhabs (schools of thought).
This article presents an introduction to one such scholarly work on the topic of Ahkam al-Quran (Rulings of the Quran). It specifically highlights the Tafsir 'Ahkam al-Quran by Al-Kiya al-Harasi,' authored by Imam Ali ibn Muhammad ibn Ali al-Tabari al-Kiya al-Harasi (504 AH), which offers a detailed exposition of these rulings from the perspective of the Shafi'i school of thought.
