Abstract

Quran provides guidance on all aspects of life. It is not just a source of guidance for worship, ethics, and social matters but also provides guidance on what to eat and drink. Human life and health depend on food. Good health is essential for performing worship and other activities. The Quran contains fundamental teachings in this regard, especially regarding what to eat, what to avoid, and the social etiquette of eating and drinking. Undoubtedly, the present era can be considered as an advanced period in human history, where the world has become a global village due to the tremendous progress of technology and science. The progress of human society and the changes resulting from this progress are at its peak. Where human progress has influenced other aspects of life, social norms and ways of living have also been affected. There has been a change in its customs and traditions. In the present era, when Islamic society is also undergoing rapid changes like other societies, changes in the etiquette and ways of eating and drinking are also being observed. Where there has been a diversity in the types of food, there has also been a change in mealtimes. There has been a freshness in the way of eating. People are adopting new ways, leaving traditional food styles. These styles are not a sign of any particular culture, but they are gaining international popularity. This article analyses the contemporary trends in food in light of Quranic teachings.
