The Style and Methodology of Sharh al-Masabih al-Sunnah A research Review

Abstract

Allah Almighty created man and arranged perfectly for his guidance. He was given a code of life in the form of the Holy Qur’an, which provides complete guidance in all aspects of life. Hadiths are important because without them the Qur’an does not make sense. They provide context to the verses in the Qur’an. So, Hadiths are essential to understand Islam. Also, Hadith and Sunnah is the 2nd main source of Islamic Law. Therefore, Muhadditheen, with their great effort, collected these hadiths and conveyed them to the Muslim Ummah. One of these collections of hadiths, is Imam Baghwi's book (Masabih al-Sunnah). A large number of interpretations of this book were written and annotations and notes were also written. One of them is (Sharh al-Masabih al-Sunnah). Muhammad bin Abdul Latif known as Ibn-ul-Malik al-Roomi, is the author of that interpretation. It is compiled in a very good manner and is consisted of six volumes. In it, the words of other commentators of ((Masabih al-Sunnah)) have been collected and the most useful lexical, syntactical, rhetorical and jurisprudential discussions have been mentioned in a very good manner. In this article the purpose of this research is to explain the style and characteristics of the Ahadiths of (Sharh al-Masabih al-Sunnah) in narrative and reasoned manner. In this, the author has clarified the difficult words of the holy Ahadiths. He also discussed the lexical, syntactical, rhetorical and jurisprudential matters.  Therefore, it was necessary to clarify its style and methodology so that the audience could understand the importance of the book.
