Abstract

The journey for seeking knowledge is considered one of the most important landmarks of the Islamic world because it provides great opportunities for learning. Journeys continued on different foundations and principles, and for many reasons, including trade, searching for markets, Hajj, and also to meet scholars. As a result of the educational exchange and intellectual and cultural communication that led them to acquire a huge academic heritage, books multiplied, great academic production was witnessed, and many scholars appeared who contributed to educational progress and cultural synthesis. Through this article, I aim to highlight the impact of the journeys for the sake of knowledge on the formation of the personality of Dr. Sayyid Rizwan Ali Nadwi and its impact on his contributions in the field of Arabic literature. He graduated from the Nadwat al-Ulama’Lucknow (India), then from the University of Damascus (Syria), and obtained his doctorate from Cambridge University in London. He practiced in the field of teaching at the Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University in Riyadh and the University of Karachi as a professor of Arabic literature. He set out to travel to distant countries, despite the many obstacles and difficulties, such as; Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Syria, France and Great Britain in his passion for learning and set a bright example for the next generation.
