An Analysis of Social Standing and Necessities of Generosity in the light of Prophetic Sunnah (SAW)

Abstract

Generosity is an extraordinary virtue that makes an individual prolific in this world and in the world hereafter. The trait of generosity similarly styles him a pioneer and fecund in the sight of Allah Almighty. Allah Says in Quran “Truly, my Lord enlarges the provision for whom He wills of His slaves, and also restricts it) for him, and whatsoever you spend of anything (in God’s Cause), He will replace it.  And He is the Best of providers.” (Quran 34:39). Prophet Muhammad (SAW) is the great reflection of Quran and said that “The believer is simple and generous, but the wicked person is deceitful and ignoble.” For the equilibrium of general public, it is additionally fundamental that the rich individuals of the society have the habit of spending generously for fair distribution of Sadaqat in the society at larger level. Allah has empowered generosity in many places of the Quran. Additionally, Muslim gain many lessons of being generous from the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW). Sadly, the moral worth of generosity is declining in today’s time. Also, certain individuals are utilizing generosity trait for their image to be good in the eyes of public, which is not recommended in the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SAW). This research aims at sensitizing the masses through Prophetic teachings towards generosity.
