Abstract

An Aqeqah is observed so that the baby can be protected from future adversities. If someone wants to perform Aqeqah, naming the baby should be delayed to the 7th day of its birth. Naming the baby earlier than is not wrong if one does not intend Aqeqah. The baby’s head should be shaved and its hair should be weighed with silver and the price of the silver should be distributed among the poor as a charity. Two goats or Sheep should be slaughtered on behalf of male baby while one goat or sheep should be slaughtered on behalf of female baby.

Many traditions are proven about Aqeqah .Their summary is as follows:

1.Aqeqah is not must or compulsory rather it is better (Mustahab) deed. Doing Aqeqah is rewardable but leaving it is not a sin because our holy Prophet did not Perform Aqeqah on the birth of his son, Ibrahim, which means that it is not must or Sunnah.

2.Aqeqah is a better way of Charity. It makes a Person generous and expresses affiliation with the faith of Ibrahim.

3.It protects the baby from future adversities and hardships. The baby

Becomes obedient to its parents and will intercede with Allah for its Parents.
