Abstract

Ignorant customs are the root of corruption and social evils, even in the modern age. There are many customs prevalent in our society due to which the life of common people is facing difficulties.

One of these rituals is the determination of dowry on the occasion of marriage, dowry is aright of a girl which is obligatory to be given to the girl in any situation but its amount will be determined by the will of both. but people are prone to extremes in determination of dowry, in a normal marriage the dowry is fixed so much that it is not enough for an average person to pay it. And one of the occasions of Vita Sata, there is no mention of dowry from the beginning. The tragedy is that instead of the girl, the dowry goes into the pocket of the parents. In the religion of Islam, dowry is a shariah right of a girl which she should get in any situation.

There is a fixed minimum dowry should be such that it can be paid easily. Determining a high dowry is not a matter of pride or reward nor can it be because of improvement in married life.

Rather, there are numerous social and economic disadvantages of to determine a high dowry in Modern times, which is an undesirable deed from the Islamic point of view.
