Abstract

The interpreter of the Holy Quran must have complete knowledge of linguistics and its different fields, so that they can enrich his knowledge in interpreting the Qur’an. Likewise, an interpreter cannot write something without proof. Rather, he must provide evidence for everything he claims in terms of explaining the meaning or grammatical or linguistic guidance. Therefore, we see them relying on the sayings and narrations of the predecessors to define the meaning of Quranic words. When dealing with issues of language, derivation, grammar, rhetoric, and interpretation, Sheikh Fakhr al-Din al-Razi often resorts, in his great interpretation named “Mafateeh Ul Ghaib” to the sayings of scholars and linguists, the most famous of whom are Al-Khalil bin Ahmad, Sibawayh, Al-Layth, Al-Mu’raj, Abu Ubaidah, Al-Farra, and Ibn Qutaybah. Al Mubarrad, Azzujaj, Abu Ali, and Al-Jabai. Among them is the famous linguist Qatrub, a student of Imam Sibawayh. Sometimes he mentions him as part of a statement and guidance, and sometimes he dominates his opinion. This article will shed light on Sheikh Fakhr al-Din al-Razi’s dealing with Qatrub’s narrations, so it shows us the aspects in which al-Razi cites his narrations. Even though the number of his narrations is about 43 in Tafseer Al- Kabir, still I chose examples for each type and did not intend to comprehend.
