The abrogator and the abrogated in Surat Al-Imran, between affirmation and rejection: A subjective study

Abstract

Scientists, past and present, talked about the issue of abrogation in the Holy Qur’an, and expanded on it a lot until it included the purified Prophet’s Sunnah, where they tried to link the two sources in terms of abrogation. Is the Holy Qur’an abrogated by the Sunnah? Or does the Sunnah abrogate the Holy Qur’an? To other phenomena and detectives surrounding the topic. The study aims to identify the abrogated and the abrogator in Surat Al-Imran, as a surah that contains stories and news of the People of the Book, and it contains different rulings. The study followed the descriptive analytical approach. The study concluded that there is no disagreement among scholars regarding the existence of abrogation in the Holy Qur’an, and that most of the commentators went to the absence of a transcriber and abrogated in Surat Al-Imran, with evidence that they did not refer to it directly or indirectly, as the researcher noticed a clear repetition in the books of interpretation, and this indicates the literal transfer between the ancient and modern ulamaa. The study recommends researchers in interpretation and the sciences of the Qur’an to pay attention to the abrogator and the abrogated in the rest of the Qur’anic chapters, as a study and investigation.
