The Interpretation of the Holy Quran in Contemporary Arab Thought : Diligence or Pitfalls?

Abstract

This research paper deals with the contemporary hermeneutical issue of the Holy Quran by monitoring three contemporary Arab thinkers of critical projects (Muhammad Arkoun, Nasr Hamed Abu Zayd, and Muhammad Shahrour), according to an approach known as hermeneutics and its terminological limits, and clarifies the scientific ground and the cognitive concepts from which each was launched. A thinker in the crystallization of his critical project, for which interpretation is one of its most important pillars.
