Abstract

Maktaba Nowl Kishore was started in1858. The name of its founder was Munshi Nowl Kishore, who was born in 1836 in the village of Laga in Mathura. The school was named Nowl Kishore after him. Publication of comprehensive and authentic books was the motto of Maktaba Nowl Kishore. Maktaba Nowl Kishore had a vast treasury of Islamic information. More than 6000 books have been published from this school. This school published a collection of very authentic and correct books on Quran, Hadith, Fiqh and Fatawa. Apart from Quran and Hadith, he brought out several editions of Torah and Injeel and also published Urdu translations of Ramayan, Bhagwat Gitaa Mahabharata, holy books of hindu religion. Munshi Nowl Kishore translated Arabic, Persian, Sanskrit and English high level and standard books into Urdu. There is an urgent need to bring their great achievements to the public.
