Sheikh Ahmad Sarhandi As A Biographer: A study in the Light of “Isbat u Nabuwwat”

Abstract

Sheikh Ahmad Sarhandi was a well known and esteemed Muslim scholar. He provided his commendable services for the betterment and well being of the Muslims in sub continent. Faith and practice systems have the highest status in Islam. The Muslims of sub continent suffered from various doubts and skepticism about basic Islamic faith system in the era of Mughal emperor Akbar. One of the most condemnable practices of that time was the partial or full denial of the prophethood directly or indirectly. Many doubts were created and spread about Islamic practices, faith system and the prophethood of Muhammad (S.A.W.). Sheikh Ahmad Sarhandi came up as a defender and savior of Islam at that time. He wrote several books, magazines and delivered speeches to counter all the prevailing negative practices. He wrote a book titled “Isbat u Nabuwwat” to answer all the objections regarding the prophethood, miracles and basic Islamic faith system. It has included him in the list of the biographers of Muhammad (S.A.W.). It is due to his rendered services for Islam that he is titled as “the reviver of Islam” and Muslims have words of admiration for his services.
