Islam and West: The Politics of Phobia

Abstract

Islamophobia has emerged as a major problem in modern times. The colonial mentality of Western politics has fostered hatred and fear against Islam and Muslims, due to which the Muslim identity has been tarnished and the notion has arisen that Islam and Muslims are a threat to world peace. At the same time, the notion that Islam as a religion is a threat to other nations has also become common, although the causes of this problem are purely political. Addressing this issue is critical for the Muslim world, and for this it is necessary to first understand the intellectual and political foundations of Islamophobia. The article under review discusses the Western political foundations of Islamophobia.
