Abstract
Study of Quranic Fawasil (Quranic Phonemics) and their role in Balaghah (Rhetoric) of the Holy Quran
Arabic, among other world languages, has a unique status owing to its linguistic and meaning related qualities. It is Ilm al Balaghah (Science of Arabic Rhetoric) that plays vital role in making Arabic a top language in the arena of linguistics.
Ilm al Balaghah is the name of a science which deals with the art with which a speaker successfully communicates his message to the listener through effective communication. The listener is engaged in listening what the speaker is saying. This objective is accomplished by the use of figures of speech and other compositional techniques. Having possessed this quality of effective communication, a talk becomes a rhetoric talk and speaker a rhetoric speaker.
Ilm al Balaghah has three branches, namely ilm al-Ma’ani (Science of Semantics), ilm al-Bayan (Science of Expression) and ilm al-Badi’ (Science of Embellishment). This paper throws light on al-Fasilah (the last word of a Quranic verse) and its branches being important branches of al-Balaghah and they not play vital role in Quranic aesthetics but rather making the Quran a master piece of eloquence and rhetoric, even unbeatable by the most eloquent and rhetoric poets and writers of the Arabs.
Key words: al-Fasilah, al-Balaghah, al-Badi’
