The concept of Structuring the Novel

Abstract

Novel and its fellow narrative genres are newly invented in Arabic literature comparing them with poetry. They suffer shortage of terminology and vocabulary to describe their structure or shape along their components. Structure of the novel generally reflects the concept of cohesive texture and organic form which is made by uniting different artistic elements. These elements make the novel enjoyable that the reader allow it to affect his vision and behavior. Once Najeeb Mahfooz said that novel has combined human suspense for facts and human longing for fiction and imagination. In this research paper, some of the important constituents of novel’s structure like incident, characters, time and place, narration, plot and language will be studied and how they contribute in structuring a good novel.
