"AL-ISĀBA FĪ TAM’YĪZ AS-SAḤĀBAH" is a remarkable book written by Imām Ibn Ḥajar Al-'Asqalānī. He devoted forty years of his life for the compilation of this masterpiece. This book consists of the study of biographies of the companions of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W). A large number of companions lived a part of their life in the age of ignorance. The memoirs of these people include a numerous detail about the history before the time of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W).
While studying the Sirah, it is inevitable to know the history before the time of Prophet Muhammad and the religions of that time. The most followed religion of Arabs was Dīn Ibrāhīmī, the Abrahamic religion which has a significance in understanding the Sīrah of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W).
This article describes the customs, traditions, culture, civilization and beliefs under the biographies of the people following the Abrahamic religion with special reference to the writings of Imām Ibn Ḥajar al-'Asqalānī in AL-ISĀBA FĪ TAM’YĪZ AS-SAḤĀBAH". This study concludes that the Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) reviewed, revived and renewed Dīn Ibrāhīmī which was neglected by the followers. The study contains some prominent followers of the Abrahamic religion in that time like Za'id bin 'Amr bin Nufa'il and Quss Ibn Sa'ida, etc in light of AL-ISĀBA FĪ TAM’YĪZ AS-SAḤĀBAH".
