Abstract

The Shari’ah has not declared Astronomy as a standard for Islamic calendar by saying that seeing the moon with eye completely unprofitable and it is necessary to decide the moon`s ending and beginning on Astronomical sensation. Shariah not exactly rejected it saying that it is not right to seek any help with this Science, Rather the shariah has given a middle way by rejecting these extreme thoughts and said that the basic premise in the new moon (Hilal) issue is to make eye-seeing but Astronomy can also be used to explore the possibilities of sigh seeing so as to know precision of eye-seeing claim and there is no prohibition in Islam for believing in that extent of Astronomy.
