Abstract

This article explores the captivating insights of Malik bin Nabi, a thought-provoking figure whose views on Orientalism shed new light on this contentious field of study. While Orientalism has traditionally been associated with Western perspectives and the portrayal of the East as exotic and inferior, bin Nabi offers a unique perspective that challenges prevailing notions. Drawing from his extensive research and personal experiences, bin Nabi presents a nuanced critique of Orientalism, emphasizing the need for a balanced and holistic approach. His analysis transcends simplistic dichotomies and confronts the underlying power dynamics, biases, and stereotypes that pervade Orientalist discourse. By delving into bin Nabi's alternative framework, which emphasizes intercultural dialogue, mutual understanding, and respect, this article aims to broaden the discourse on Orientalism and inspire new avenues of scholarship. By reevaluating Orientalist perspectives through bin Nabi's critical lens, readers are invited to question preconceived notions and embark on a transformative journey towards a more inclusive and equitable understanding of the East-West relationship.
