An Analytical Study of Imam Abu Dawud’s Jurisprudential School and his Works (Books) in Hadith and Fiqah

Abstract

Imam Abu dawud is one of the great narrators of the third century AH.He was born in 202AH and died in 275 AH. He has written many useful books in the field of Hadith in which his book Sunan abi dawud got the most fame. Apart from Sunan Abu Dawud,he has many other important works in the field of Hadith. An explanatory introduction is given in this article.

There is also a considerable disagreement among the scholars about his jurisprudential school. According to some scholars, Imam Abbu Dawud was a follower of Imam Ahmad bin  Hanbal, although some have consider him Shafi.  Aport frome Abu dawud , there are other useful books in Hadith written by Imam Abu Dawud. Imam abu Dawud has been worked on by various researchers from different angles, but there are other useful books of Imam Abu Dawud in Field of Hadith which have not yet received any comprehensive definition. Therefore,there was a need to bring his other work to light.

This article will gave a brief overview regarding the jurisprudential school of Imam Abu Dawud and an introduction to his other books will also be given.
