Abstract

Beauty is an attribute of Allah almighty which He likes to see in His creatures, it is a quality or aggregate of qualities which attracts everyone and gives pleasure to the senses or pleasurably exalts the mind or spirit therefore he made this universe beautiful and especially he had made man who is best of his creatures to love beauty by nature. That is why in every era of History real beauty, along with art and taste, is the main subject of aesthetics, which is one of the main branches of philosophy and has been an important discussion among philosophers of different believes and civilizations. According to Greek Philosophy beauty is name of correction proportion of things however Socrates, Aristotle and Platonic philosophers presented the concept of spiritual beauty and associated beauty with truth, goodness, love and divinity. In western middle age Saint Augusatine attributing beauty to God, he declared recognition of cosmic beauty as the path of self-purification and God-realization. In farEast Taoism associated it with ethics while Confucianism associated it with morality.

Islam the true guidance has true concept of beauty, it uses word JAMAL for beauty in Qur’an. Islam defines it and its different aspects. It has specific standard of beauty and it guides us manners and attiquat to beautify ourselves and describes limits of its expression. In this article philosophy of real beauty will be described with reference of Islamic teachings.
